The AIUCD, the Italian Association for Humanities and Digital Culture, is one of the most important Italian initiatives in the field of Digital Humanities and Digital Cultural Heritage. CELI has been part of AIUCD for years and supports Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage initiatives and projects, in collaboration with universities, museums, libraries, archives and other cultural bodies.

The 10th edition of the AIUCD annual conference takes place from 19th to 22nd January, 2021, entitled: “DH for society: e-equality, participation, rights and values ​​in the digital age.” Registration for AIUCD 2021 is FREE but essential for the operation of virtual classrooms.

AIUCD 2021 aims to be a moment of study and reflection on Digital Humanities (DHs) as a privileged meeting place among different needs of contemporary society in research, politics, economics and everyday life, giving the humanist the role of interpreter and facilitator of change. 

Andrea Bolioli and Alessio Bosca, together with researchers from the University of Turin, present the paper “Citizen curation and NLP technologies for museums in the SPICE Project”. The European research project H2020 SPICE, acronym of “Social cohesion, Participation, and Inclusion through Cultural Engagement” promotes social cohesion by researching and developing citizen curation tools and methods for museums. CELI develops Natural Language Processing technologies, managing content in Hebrew, Finnish, English, Italian and Spanish.

The AIUCD 2021 conference takes place online and is organized by he Laboratory of Digital Culture (LABCD), the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) – through the Institute for Computational LinguisticsA. Zampolli” (ILC) and the Institute of Information Science and Technologies A. Faedo” (ISTI) and CLARIN-IT, the Italian node of the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (CLARIN).
